Warrior Woes Continue At Westview

Despite a heroic performance by number 3 varsity singles Chelsea Carolus, the Lady Warriors dropped their second consecutive non-conference match of the year 1-4 to Westview Tuesday night.  Missing key varsity players and having a major shift in the lineup, the Wawasee girls tennis team fought hard, but came up short.

Most notable performances of the night were Carolus who sprained her ankle in the second set, received medical attention and then went on to win in an exciting third set tiebreaker. Number one varsity singles Jada Antonides put forth a gutsy performance narrowly losing in a third set 4-6.  JV number three singles Brianna Haessig turned in the JV performance of the night, hanging tough in a narrow 7-9 loss.

Coach Staley talked to the media after the match:

This is one of the losses where I actually left the match feeling better than with other losses.  I saw a lot of fight out there.  We were shorthanded in varsity again and also JV which remains largely inexperienced and young, but the girls stepped up, played hard and I felt there was growth out there tonight, both mentally and physically.
